In light of last week’s article I would like to share some alternatives to shopping at big box retailers and ordering from Amazon. We all know that Jeff Bezos does not need to get any richer since he has already moved beyond private jets to private spacecraft. Where can you go and be sure that the dollars you spend are going to real people making real things right here on Earth Prime. The first idea is a convenient one, as an alternative to an Amazon, Walmart, or Target , why not try independent artists on places like Etsy or Redbubble? If you are not familiar with Etsy, then you have been living under a rock and I can not help you. But the website Redbubble is a little bit more under the radar and may require some introductions. Redbubble is a fulfilment service provider for artists and photographers. They do printing processing on many ethically sourced products and dropship directly to the consumer. There is nearly an infinite array of art and designs from which to choose, whether you are interested in fan art of your favorite characters from movies and pop culture or wholly original art pieces, if you like whimsical caricatures or fine artwork work from a more mature pallet you can find it on Redbubble and order it directly from the artist themself on a vast array of gift merchandise from stickers and tee-shirts, water bottles and travel mugs, to really nice archival prints on canvas, metal, or paper. It really is a great way to find something truly unique and creative and support the artists directly. .

Also worth noting is Bonfire, which helps non profit companies create, print, and sell tee shirts to support their fundraising efforts allowing you to not only get a cool tee shirt but all in support of a good cause. You can find and support many great organizations through this service and it is like giving a double gift of the tee shirt and the donation.

Please check out the links above and of course we welcome you to suggest anyone we might have overlooked. Comments are open. We would, of course, be remiss today if we did not mention the movement toward shopping locally. It is important for communities to support their local shops and retailers which, of course, brings us to the importance of the dot-town websites. If your town does not have a dot-town, you are missing out on a great resource. Please contact Web Samurai for Hire today and let see if we can help you bring a grass roots version to your dot-town, your dot-way.
